I read somewhere that accountants report greater rates of job satisfaction than people in "creative" occupations do. Ironic, considering that popular culture portrays accounting jobs as among those that people dream of leaving to find satisfaction writing the great American novel or performing in funky rap/metal fusion bands.

I absolutely love this essay. With everyone going into a cocoon for the past year and things opening up, everyone should ask 'what do you want your butterfly to look like'

Never let anyone tell you that you are a bad writer, you are amazing, unique and original

You always make me laugh, smile and think while reading your work

Definitely related to this post! Everything opening up again has been a rollercoaster for my anxiety. It’s the battle between the world saying we need to be busy again vs your head telling you to take it easy…or hide away from it all forever 😂 thank you for being so honest! It makes me feel less alone with my fears 💛

As a Frenchman, I'd advise to switch from "merde" to the more versatile "putain" of course it's original meaning is woman without virtue but it's almost forgotten.

It could mean depending on the tone:

"It's amazing and awesome this could do that/could happen"

"It's real bad news this could do that/could happen"

"I'm angry and bummed about something" ( yes, like "merde")

"This is going great"

"This is going very bad"

And it's only slightly worse in social situations.

My question would be, why would you change what you're doing? If in the last year you've been able to maintain a lifestyle that you're comfortable and happy with, what need do you have to go back to how things were? None of the things you've been doing are going to go away once the pandemic is over, and you could add things like the occasional convention back with relatively little impact. Anything beyond that seems unnecessary unless it provides something for you that you aren't able to get now.

Your writing is amazing and I always get excited when I see Felicitations in my inbox! I also just started listening to Undressing Bridgerton because I’m spending a lot of time in the car (moving during a pandemic, cue wail of anxiety). I love it! You’re awesome and inspire so many of your fans, and I wish you the best in figuring out all your career and life endeavors.

Why, do you suppose, are whistles our standard of cleanliness? 🤔

Silly thought. I know. Love your blog, please keep doing the putting-words-together thing ❤

If you want to scratch both your own French-language itch and your little girl's Egyptian itch, perhaps the film "The Extraordinary Adventure of Adele Blanc-Sec." It has a teeny bit of nudity in it, but the only cursing is in French and Arabic, and the lead is basically a female Indiana Jones whose motivation is to rescue her beloved sister.

go get dosed.

Seriously.

I am basically your age, in Arizona, and I am nearly 3 weeks after my second dose. Trust me: Hitting that 2 week cure period after your second dose is... liberating. You can go to big box stores (At Home, IKEA, Target, etc) and not be terrified! also: Game night with friends!

Well, I know of a lot of folks you know from the music world , JCM, Mister-Sam...I never told my daughters to look to them, just to their mom and you, for inspiration. You’ve done more hopping on one leg ( the sore one ) with both hands tied behind your back than anyone else I respect. Maturation happens when we least expect it, and growth lives in discomfort. We’ll all still be here when you change the word again, or don’t. You’re Felicia Day and that means a whole lot to a whole lot of people. Xx

I drove up to West Warwick to pick up a few bags of Portuguese rolls and the Sweetbread with the eggs in it for Easter. I ate a Cacoula sandwich on my way back, because when in Rome..

Then I ordered Pork Fried Rice and Teriyaki Beef from Chen's in Westerly, because it's what I planned on picking up for lunch, but was late getting back to Southern RI.

I read this essay as I waited for my food, and I thought: "What an odd contrast this young woman is."

In so many productions, and IRL, streaming, etc. -You're confident. It's not a ruse. Acting is one thing, you'd know better than myself, (you're the real deal, while I've only dated a few.) You portray true confidence.

"Acting is all about honesty. If you can fake that, you've got it made." -Burns.

Yet you mention therapy, to aid your struggles.

You began by worrying about meeting new people. Yet miss and enjoy meeting new people.

I understand. I want everyone to be healthy. And I never want this worldly difference to go back to what it was before. I miss the tiny freedoms which have been restricted, yet love the strange quiet it brought for a change. The "slow down" and less congestion is and remains welcome in my opinion.

...You'll have plenty for your daughter's tuition. She'll probably have her own scholarships. The boob drawings are a straight shot towards liberal arts. She's on track already.
