TLDR: Grab your tickets to the Feb 23rd reading HERE!
Five years ago (has it been that long?!) lyricist Sam Balzac and composer Mark Schenfisch approached me with an email through my website asking to option “The Guild” for a musical. I met with them on a lark (ya’ll know all my actions are larks!) and their demo songs blew me away. I laughed so much and knew that they got the vibe of the original show: Funny, Gamer-y and Heartful (2/3 of those are actual words). Cut to now, after those long before-mentioned years, with many more wonderful songs created by Mark and Sam, a fantastic book written by Allison Frasca, and the whole thing developed and produced by me and my theatre-savvy BFF Tom Lenk, we have a production to show you!
For the record: YES I asked the original cast if they wanted to perform, but as none of them are really musical theatre people, they demurred. (Don’t worry, my goal is to get a “The Guild” reunion movie Kickstarted in the next year, cross fingers I get my butt writing the script so we will be reunited.)
I’m blessed with incredible castmates in this staged reading (Which is basically where we read from scripts and loosely block the movements, hence the “reading” part.) It’s the first step in, hopefully, a full production of the play one day, but that’s for when we find bigger financing and producers. Hopefully from this reading!
For now, I get to play with my fantastic friend Phil Lamar as Vork, whom everyone knows from his extensive voiceover work, especially Futurama. Kirstin Vangsness, who I worked with on the podcast Voyage to the Stars, will play Clara. (If you know her from Criminal Minds you know this is GREAT casting.) Rama Vallury, prolific on-camera and voiceover actor will make an appropriately “eager” Zaboo for us. Lauren Lopez and Joey Richter from StarKid Productions musical fame are playing Tink and Bladezz. Yes, they are the “cool ones”. :D And last but never least, Anjali Bhimani, whom you may recognize from Broadway and Ms. Marvel and tons of brilliant D&D performances, plays Zaboo’s mom Avinashi. Be prepared for all these voices to upstage me as Codex, but hey, I’m fine with it! We’re putting on a show!
I’m nervous and thrilled to get all this hard work out into the world. Please grab a ticket here and watch from wherever on the Livestream, or grab a ticket to see it live in LA. (There are only 200 seats at Dynasty Typewriter so do it quick!)
(Just wanted to add another parenthesis to end this! Thanks for supporting! Me excite!)

So excited for you/this! You hinted at a con you'd be working with Kirstin Vangsness again I had high hopes! (I was cosplaying Garcia) Hopes fulfilled! *kicking feet & fangirling*
