2023: Let's Do This Newsletter Thing Again!

Apologies for the delay. And here's an update on my brand new project, Third Eye!

I hate to be the kind of email newsletter that only pops up when I need you, not when you need me, but I figured y’all PROBABLY like my stuff, and would like to hear about what I’ve been working on since I stopped updating this newsletter so long ago? So here goes! (Also, I miss this newsletter and am going to be doing it monthly again going forward. I already put it in my calendar to do it the middle of every month. It’s official. Virtually inviolate. Google Calendar cannot be amended, right?!). Ahem, ANYWAY…

October 5th, a project I have worked on for five (well, technically eight) years releases on Audible!

It’s the dream TV show I always wanted to create/star in, only I made it in audio! Here’s the cover art:

Snazzy huh? I mean, look at that cast list, I called in ALL the favors! Neil Gaiman? Sean Astin? Drop a name anywhere, Felicia? LOL.

I also wrote the perfect part for my friend Wil Wheaton, met my new muses London Hughes and LilyPichu, oh, and there are more cast to peruse, here’s the whole list:

If you’re a little confused because you might think Audible does books, not TV shows, you’re not alone. But I can explain!! Basically, this project is book-LENGTH, but it was scripted and acted out. So consider it 10 episodes of a TV show in audio. Orrrrr…sure, think of it as an acted-out book, lol. Either rate, it’s HOURS of amazing content right for your earholes and you can pre-order it right now! I mean, are you a Prime member? You probably have a free credit JUST WAITING FOR THIS MOMENT! GOOOOOO!

TLDR description: “Third Eye is about a fantasy Chosen One who FAILS. And has to figure out how to live with herself after. (It doesn’t go well). 15 years later, someone arrives at her psychic shop that throws her pathetic life upside down and causes her to question everything. And maybe try to save the world again? Ugh.”

It’s a comedy/adventure/fantasy epic, and it’s the thing I’m most proud of creating. Possibly even more than The Guild. Fun fact: there’s MORE material here than all the seasons of The Guild combined! (Ok, Guild I still love you, but a woman can have more than one baby. Shhh don’t whine, here’s a pacifier.)

I thought Third Eye was going to be my starring TV vehicle when I wrote and shopped it around back in 2015. My employees at G&S back in the day even made me this neon sign of the project because we were all so certain it was gonna be made and be a hit! (Tip: never do that in Hollywood haha).

When the project didn’t sell, I was devastated. And actually didn’t write for a while. But, because the concept and role always stuck with me, when I got the opportunity to develop it into a long-form project at Audible in 2018, I jumped at the chance!

It took a LONG time to write, hundreds of pages, and lots of stuff went down between 2018 and now I’m sure you’ve all notice, lol, but it’s ended up being an incredible journey, and allowed me to grow as a writer SO much. I used to have such anxiety writing, but somehow I’ve KIND of shaken it now? Audible did an amazing job of giving me creative freedom to make the show I wanted to make. And, given how Hollywood has crushed my soul SO many times, I’m immensely grateful for this opportunity. :)

If you like my writing style you will enjoy this. My friend Jonah Ray, who voice directed and cameoed in this, said, after he read the scripts, “This is the most Felicia thing I’ve ever read.” I considered it a compliment. Lots of weird words in this. Like “Balalaika”.
